In our next meeting, colleagues from Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering will explore the critical importance of making mathematical content accessible, offering practical strategies and tools to ensure that equations and symbols are equitably conveyed to all students, including those with disabilities. # Agenda 1. Inclusive Teaching - Math Accessibility for STEM Equity 2. Next meeting. 3. Community updates. 4. Any other business. # Session synopses ## Inclusive Teaching - Math Accessibility for STEM Equity Sara Shunkwiler, Instructional Designer. Mel Rizzuto, Instructional Designer. Katherine Springer, Course Support Specialist. Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering. “Mathematics is foundational to STEM, but accessibility efforts typically focus on the written word, overlooking information conveyed in equations. Math Accessibility is crucial to providing equitable access to STEM fields for disabled students and colleagues. We’ll highlight math as a language and how to 'speak math' accessibly, including the visual, auditory, and symbolic content in equations. We'll include a table of math languages, tech tools, creation methods, and outputs as a decision tree to create accessible and accurate equations.“  # Missed an earlier session or want to watch again?
