Accessibility for Everyone

September 19, 2018 (6:00 PM - 7:00 PM)

Time: 1PM-2PM EST Location: tinyurl.com/AllyForumSeries

Description: When accessibility conversations focus on legal requirements and compliance, they can easily miss the ways that inclusive environments benefit everyone. Sometimes we can move accessibility conversations ahead by highlighting the benefits of inclusive design for people without disabilities. So, how can accessible learning content benefit all students? Learn strategies that you can use to help faculty get started with accessibility and some examples of accessibility work being done at Utah State University that instructors and students get excited about such as converting PDF files to HTML for a more usable, accessible and mobile-friendly learning experience.

Speaker: Christopher Phillips is the Electronic and Information Technology Accessibility Coordinator at Utah State University and has been helping lead USU’s roll-out of Ally in their Canvas LMS. Christopher has extensive knowledge and experience using and implementing different accessibility tools and checkers and is passionate about the benefits of accessibility for everyone.
